Join Eating with the Ecosystem on Saturdays in October at the Mount Hope Farm Farmers Market.
For each event, Eating with the Ecosystem will partner with local chefs to host cooking demos featuring local seafood species and provide visitors with free samples of the delicious dishes they create while providing education about our local seafood, fisheries, and marine ecosystems. These events will focus on four themes:
“Underwater and Overlooked”- focusing on the abundant local species that are often overlooked by consumers and how consumers can balance their seafood diets with our local ecosystems.
“Fisheries of the Future”- focusing on the species that are becoming more abundant due to climate change and how these environmental changes are impacting our local fisheries.
“Salt Marsh and Sugar Kelp - focusing on the importance of protecting local seafood habitats to sustain healthy fisheries and ecosystems.
“Know Your Fisherman”- Meet a local fisherman and learn how consumers can help support our local fishing communities.
The cooking demo and tasting samples will be accompanied by educational handouts and talking points so that every attendee learns how to help protect local seafood habitat, support local fishing communities and appreciate seafood through diversified eating.
